06 Nov New school and new scanner
Nick and Caroline have just returned from a two week trip to Arughat. It was fantastic to see the completed school, now painted in pink and blue and already called the ‘Butterfly School’ by locals. It is the first public school in the entire hard hit Gorkha region to have been rebuilt and to be in use. We were honoured by a formal meeting of thanks from the school committee and the school is now officially open. We also visited the hospital which has recently taken charge of the new ultrasound scanner. Two of the doctors have learned to use it and they will teach the other staff the skills needed. It had already been in clinical use for two weeks prior to our visit.
